As a species, Cerith snails eat a variety of ‘foods’ found in fish tanks such as hair algae and detritus. They’ll even consume feces, uneaten fish food, and more. Imagine having a little helper (or helpers!) to clean after your fish tank every day. Cerith snails are typically night foragers and burrow deep into the mud or sand and help oxygenate and clean your tank. Algae is their food of choice, and they will do their very best to remove any excess hair algae present in your aquarium. One snail per five gallons of tank size is a good metric to use. Cerith snails are fast breeders so you will have yourself an army of little helpers in no time!
