Clean Your Aquarium the Natural Way!

Are you tired of constantly having to clean your aquarium? You need an assistant. No, you don’t need to hire someone to come out to your house and help you. What you need are Nassarius snails! These underwater creatures help keep your aquarium clean on a day to day basis.

What Are Nassarius Snails?

Nassarius snails are tiny scavengers that come in attractive shells. They originate from the Caribbean, Indonesia, and the Mexican Coast and have a pretty undesirable appetite. As a species, Nassarius snails eat a variety of ‘foods’ found in fish tanks and are carnivorous meaning all that extra frozen food sitting at the bottom of the tank will not be left to rot. Watch these guys come out of the sandbed like zombies to clean up anything that might have died or was left uneaten. If you were in the walking dead this would be the snail that would be doing the cleanup.

Imagine having a little helper (or helpers!) to clean after your fish tank every day. Nassarisus snails are typically night foragers and burrow deep into the mud or sand and help oxygenate and clean your tank. Algae is not their food of choice, but they will consume some detritus but and work hard to keep your aquarium free of chunks of Mysis among other frozen foods that you feed. This is the most natural way to keep your fish tank as clean as possible, especially between deep cleans.

The best part about Nassarius snails is that they are virtually maintenance free. They are here to help, not hinder. You don’t need to feed them any additional food and they will keep themselves busy clearing all the food you're probably overfeeding.

How many do you need?

One snail per five gallons of tank size is a good metric to use.

Clean your aquarium the natural way, with Nassarius snails.

I have been ordering Copepods for many years and I never notice any reaction from my fish or corals when I bought from other places not so buying from Pod Your Reef! The copepods were alive and well! You could even see some swimming around in the tank my mushroom corals went crazy! Highly recommend getting your copepods from here!
