Astraea Snails

Clean Your Aquarium the Natural Way!

Are you tired of constantly having to clean your aquarium? You need a team of professionals. No, you don’t need to hire someone to come out to your house and help you. What you need are Astrea snails! These underwater creatures help keep your aquarium clean on a day-to-day basis.

What Are Astrea Snails?

Astrea snails are tiny scavengers that originate from the Caribbean that come in attractive pyramid-shaped shells. As a species, Astraea has a staple appetite for nuisance algae, such as those annoying algae that grow on frag plugs, and in between polyps, as a bonus, they will even demolish some species of cyanobacteria. Watch these guys knock out stubborn problems that you thought could only be fixed by a complete reboot of your tank. These snails are truly the last action hero of the snail world. Watch these snails perform death-defying feats as they search for film algae on your glass. But if you ever see one fall, like Sylvester Stallone, watched Sarah fall 4,000 feet when the bucket of her harness broke and she was holding onto his hand before their grip broke loose, make sure to help the snail out by helping it get back onto its little snail feet.

The best part about Astrea snails is that they are virtually maintenance-free. They are here to help, not hinder. You don’t need to feed them any additional food and they will keep themselves busy clearing all the food you're probably overfeeding.

How many do you need?

One snail per five gallons of tank size is a good metric to use.

Clean your aquarium the natural way, with Astraea snails.

We process orders Monday through Wednesday. In addition orders are shipped via FedEx though various services; FedEx Overnight, Fedex 2 Day Shipping, and Fedex Home Delivery or Ground for commercial addresses.

Our bottles are FDA approved for food contact, strong, lightweight, and completely recyclable. Rest assured keeping your reef adequately fed is environmentally friendly.

If you're not ready to use your tisbe or apo copepods once you receive them you can store them by removing the cap and storing them at room temperature out of direct sunlight.

For Rotifers, and Tig pods remove the cap and store them in the fridge until ready.

Tisbe copepods reproduce extremely well in a reef tank. Keep in mind that the ability to establish a population depends on reproduction exceeding predation. Therefore if you have a lot of predation based on your reef tank stock, it's important to introduce an adequate amount.

The best time to introduce copepods is once the tank inhabitants are not very active. This would be once the lights are off after they have been fed heavily. They can be introduce into the display, back chamber of an all in one, or in a refugium.

No problem, just here over here and reach out to us and we'll get back to you with the best approach to keeping your reef thriving.

Make sure to give us enough information about your tank.
